Top class stuff. The variety of toppings an excellent elaboration. I made it for me Dad who waxes eloquently about his youth, banana splits and matinee movies. He is currently 89 so this would have been Bloemfontein in the '40's and 50's. It seems the boys put chocolate sauce on their grubby little paws so as to leave paw prints on the girls' fronts during the movies. He was glad of it , the Split but struggled, poor fellow, to eat it. He's going blind and is not accustomed yet fumbling around without proper sight. I think also, that along the way he lost his sweet tooth. This sure is a load of sweetness. I added a touch of syrup to my homemade choc sauce. Next time, not. I used fresh fruit and didn't add any sugar to that. Anyway thanks for the guidance to help ease our way through his growing darkness.
Yours sincerely
