Made this for my son’s Birthday! I don’t do things from scratch usually and was very nervous as alot of people would be here!! So many in fact that I had to make 2 cakes. They both came out perfect and have never had so many compliments on any food I have made! so delicious!!My cakes sat in fridge probably 8 hours before I made the whip cream topping and then another he in fridge before being served with the berries. could not have been more perfect !

Actually, after a day or two, it stops being sweet and it is the perfect balance! I would give this recipe 5 stars on my original comment. I’m going to try to make it a chocolate 3-leches cake now 🙂

Sounds like a great way to adjust for your taste! Keep in mind that reducing the sugar can change the structure of the cake. I recommend starting small if you plan to reduce the sugar.

This cake was easy to make and the whipped cream was delicious! I feel like the cake/bottom part was too sweet. I’d make it again, but add less sugar.
