Hi! The mint simple syrup is where the mint comes into play in a traditional mint julep, along with the mint leaves. If you didn’t use mint simple syrup and omitted the mint leaves, you didn’t make a mint julep 🙂

I’m not sure why this is called a Mint Julep. It doesn’t have any mints in it. I replaced the mint sprig with a slice of pineapple just to make it more substantial. Next time I will probably replace the lemonade with pineapple juice too! Great Recipe!! Loved it so much!
