Description

This kid-friendly Starbucks vanilla steamer recipe couldn’t be easier. It’s warming, soothing & caffeine free! (Vegan-Friendly)

Ingredients

Scale

For The Vanilla Steamer:

  • 1 cup milk of choice (almond milk, whole milk, oat milk–whatever you drink!)
  • 1/21 Tablespoon sugar, to taste (or pure maple syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
  • *tiny* pinch salt (less than 1/16 tsp.)

For Garnish:

  • Whipped cream or whipped coconut cream (recommended)
  • Pinch cinnamon or freshly grated nutmeg (optional)
  • Drizzle of caramel sauce (optional, for a treat!)

Instructions

Stovetop Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine milk, sugar, vanilla bean paste, and salt.
  2. Stir over medium heat until steaming hot, stirring regularly to avoid any scorched spots. (Do NOT let the milk boil or simmer, or it can curdle and throw off the taste.)
  3. Pour mixture into a mug or heat-proof glass, leaving extra room at the top if possible.
  4. Use a milk frother or mini whisk to froth the milk.
  5. Dollop with whipped cream or coconut cream and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg or a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired.

Microwave Directions:

  1. In a 2-cup heat-proof liquid measuring cup or large mug, heat milk, sugar, vanilla bean paste, and salt in 30-second intervals until steaming hot. (Usually just 60-90 seconds total, depending on your microwave.)
  2. Stir in between microwaving intervals to avoid any scorched spots. (Do NOT let the milk boil or simmer, or it can curdle and throw off the taste.)
  3. Use a milk frother or mini whisk to froth the milk, and pour into a mug to serve.
  4. Dollop with whipped cream or coconut cream and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg or a drizzle of caramel sauce, if desired.
