Description

This famous mocktail recipe is made with just 2-3 ingredients and makes a fun addition to parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

For A Classic Roy Rogers Drink:

  • Ice
  • 1 cup (8 oz.) cola soda (like Coca Cola*)
  • 1 Tablespoon (1/2 oz.) grenadine syrup
  • Optional garnish: maraschino cherries, lemon or lime wedges

For A Less Sweet Roy Rogers Drink:

  • Ice
  • 3/4 cup (6 oz.) cola soda (like Coca Cola*)
  • 1 Tablespoon (1/2 oz.) grenadine syrup
  • Squeeze lemon or lime juice (1/2 Tablespoon)
  • 1/4 cup (2 oz.) club soda
  • Optional garnish: maraschino cherries, lemon or lime wedges

Instructions

For A Classic Roy Rogers Drink:

  1. Fill A Glass With Ice. (We like a tall glass or Collins glass)
  2. Pour Grenadine Over Ice.
  3. Add Cola & Stir. (Don’t skip this quick stir or all the grenadine will sink to the bottom and make for a super sweet first sip and an unbalanced drink later.)
  4. Garnish the drink with maraschino cherries, lemon or lime wedge, or fresh mint.

For A Lower Sugar Roy Rogers Drink

  1. Fill A Glass With Ice. (We like a tall glass or Collins glass)
  2. Pour Grenadine Over Ice.
  3. Add Cola.
  4. Squeeze In Lemon Juice.
  5. Top Off The Drink With Club Soda & Gently Stir. (Don’t skip this quick stir or all the grenadine will sink to the bottom and make for a super sweet first sip and an unbalanced drink later.)
  6. Garnish the drink with maraschino cherries, lemon or lime wedge, or fresh mint.

Notes

  • Fun Fact: Why Is It Called Roy Rogers? The Roy Rogers drink was named after famous American actor and singer Roy Rogers, known as “the king of cowboys” and famous for acting in Westerns and singing songs like “Happy Trails.” While there isn’t as much lore around his drink as there is for the Shirley Temple mocktail, rumor has it that this drink was named for Rogers because he didn’t drink alcohol.
  • Cola. Feel free to swap in diet coke, probiotic cola, or your favorite brand instead.
