Back again today with another great summer mocktail recipe!
There’s just nothing like cooling off with a fun drink on a hot summer day, and this virgin Blue Lagoon recipe is definitely great for cooling off with!
Common for baby showers and summer parties, this blue drink is the mocktail version of the classic cocktail. Known for its beautiful blue color and fruity flavor, our Blue Lagoon mocktail recipe is made from simple ingredients and adds a touch of fun to any occasion. (Doesn’t that color immediately make you feel like you’re on vacation!?)
So, let’s get started! Here’s what you’ll need to make this easy recipe…

Simple Ingredients To Get Started
It’s easy to get confused about which blue drink recipe is which! While the Blue Hawaiian Mocktail is a combination of curaรงao, lemon or lime juice, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut, the Blue Lagoon is a lemonade-based mocktail. Let’s take a look at the ingredients:
- Blue Curaรงao Syrup. It adds its signature vibrant blue color to the blue lagoon drink, and other blue mocktails like the Blue Hawaiian Mocktail! Beyond its distinctive bright blue color, Blue Curacao syrup is sweet, with notes of orange and delicious citrus flavor. Perfect for this easy summer drink!
- Fresh Lemon Juice. Then, we turn up the lemon flavor even more with an extra squeeze of fresh lemon juice. It’s great for cutting through the sweetness in this drink!
- Lemonade. We’re huge fans of homemade lemonade, but you can absolutely make this mocktail recipe with your favorite store-bought lemonade! Light, regular, low-sugar, keto, whatever!
- Lemon-Lime Soda. Next up is some fizz! I recommend something bubbly, like Sprite, but Olipop is a great lower-sugar option, too.
- Lots of Ice Cubes. As I always say, if it’s not an ice-cold mocktail, I don’t want it!
Key Ingredient: Blue Curaรงao Syrup
Blue Curaรงao (pronounced CURE-a-sow) gets its citrus orange flavor from the dried peel of the laraha citrus fruit. It’s colored blue to add a bright blue hue to drinks and mocktails of all kinds.
BUT. It’s important to note that there are two different blue curaรงao products. The first is the famous blue curaรงao LIQUEUR, which DOES contain alcohol. The second is Blue Curaรงao SYRUP which is the non-alcoholic version.
To keep this a non-alcoholic mocktail recipe, be sure to ONLY use Blue Curacao SYRUP, like Monin, or Torani. Avoid curacao liqueur, which contains alcohol.

How To Make A Virgin Blue Lagoon Drink, Step By Step
As always, you can find the full recipe with ingredient amounts, detailed instructions, and tips in the recipe card below!
- Start With Ice. Fill a 14-16 ounce glass with ice cubes.
- Combine blue curaรงao syrup, fresh lemon juice, and lemonade. Stir with a straw or cocktail stirrer until just combined.
- Top Off The Drink with lemon lime soda and gently stir to combine. (Try not to stir out the bubbles!)
- Garnish with fresh pineapple, a maraschino cherry, or lemon slices!
PRO TIP: It’s common to serve a Blue Lagoon in a hurricane glass, but any 14-16 ounce glass will work! (Highball glass, collins glass, tumbler, etc.)

Make It Pretty!
I’m a major believer in garnishes for mocktails! If I’m going to make a fun drink, I might as well make it look beautiful while I’m at it. Thankfully, it’s easy to dress up this virgin blue lagoon mocktail recipe with a few simple extras. We recommend:
- Fresh Lemon – A lemon wheel, fresh lemon wedges, lemon slices, lemon peel, etc. Anything to play up the lemon in the drink!
- Orange – Or, swap out the lemon for a fresh orange slice, orange peel, or orange wedge to play up the notes in the curaรงao.
- Maraschino Cherries – It’s common to add a maraschino cherry or two!
- Edible Flowers – A nod to the tropical flavors & vibe of this drink!
- A Cocktail Umbrella – Or, just add a cocktail umbrella! It’ll instantly feel like a summer party drink!

FAQ + Tricks For The Best Blue Lagoon Mocktail
Use Curacao SYRUP not Liqueur! To keep this a non-alcoholic mocktail recipe, be sure to ONLY use Blue Curacao syrup, like Monin, or Torani. Avoid Blue Curacao liqueur, which contains alcohol. With the syrup, you’ll still get the vibrant blue hue, just without the alcohol!
Can I Add Alcohol? I don’t drink, but a classic Blue Lagoon Cocktail typically uses 1 ounce of vodka.
Try A Frozen Blue Lagoon! For a frozen version, you can blend the drink with 1 cup ice instead of pouring it over ice. A frosty Blue Lagoon mocktail is a delicious way to cool off on a hot day!
